The West Papua Province’s Regional Executive Board of Real Estate Indonesia (REI) has planned for the construction of 1000 units of subsidised houses for low-income people in the West Papua and Southwest Papua regions in 2023.
Chairman of DPD REI West Papua, Julius Lois stated in Manokwari, on Tuesday (31/1/2023), that approximately 300 units of subsidised housing of the total target have been completed, with the rest to be built in stages. Since early January 2022, the State Savings Bank (BTN) has been handling the subsidised Home Ownership Credit (KPR) process in the region.
“On 2 January, people can already apply for a house contract, so it’s faster,” said Julius.
He explained that the construction of subsidised houses involved 16 developers spread across a number of districts in West Papua and Southwest Papua. Every developer is committed to the construction of the low-income houses being realised according to the set target.
“We still maintain the quality of the house, and the type of KPR house is type 36 with an average of two bedrooms,” he said.
According to the Chairman, the demand for subsidised houses is dominated by people in Manokwari Regency, West Papua, in comparison to Sorong City and Sorong Regency, Southwest Papua.
Subsidised houses in Manokwari are located all over in the Amban, Susweni, Maripi, Andai and Sowi areas. “In South Manokwari Regency there is already one location for the construction of subsidised houses including the Manokwari settlement unit area,” he said.
REI West Papua assesses that the need for subsidised houses will continue to increase in the coming years, because housing is a basic need of every human being. Therefore, support from the local government through the licensing process is very helpful in accelerating the construction of subsidised houses for the community.
“So far, there have been no problems with licensing because there is support from the local government,” said Julius.
REI also appreciates the active role of the Manokwari Regency Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service (PTSP) Office, for its responsiveness in issuing building approval permits (PBG) and other location permits. In fact, the Manokwari Investment and PTSP Office was the first agency to issue PBGs for developers to support the construction of subsidised houses.
Julius said that information on to Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) mortgages and Public Housing Savings (Tapera) can be obtained by the public through the nearest developer office or Himbara (State-owned) banks such as Bank Mandiri, Bank Negara Indonesia, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, and BTN.
