Former Papua Rebels Hands in Weapons to Local Military Unit

On Wednesday, December 3, 2017, former Papua Rebel Dance Fonataba (former assistant of the late Erik Manitori) handed over weapons consisting of 1 handmade weapon, 8 5.56 mm calibre bullets and two grenades in North Yapen, Papua. The weapons were received by the local military district Commander in a ceremony attended by the public.

The surrendering of the weapons was overseen by Corinus Sineri, a former commander of the Papua rebel group in North Yapen who had surrendered on 17 August 2017 to the military authority. Corinus had helped the handover process without causing public disturbances. Corinus meanwhile appreciated the worked done by the Army in helping empowering the community through agricultural and educational assistance program.
