A small number of Papua citizens still consider July 1 as the anniversary of TPN-OPM. This should actually not be done anymore by the people of Papua because Papua is a legitimate part of Republic of Indonesia. This was said by the Chief of Barisan Merah Putih (BMP) Ramses Ohee to the Press, Thursday afternoon (29/6).
It was said that the group that named themselves TPN-OPM is a group which wants Papua to separate from the Republic of Indonesia by either committing armed terror activities or other forms of terror.
“It shows that the group is prohibited because they are against the 4 pillars of the nation namely Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, Bhineka Tunggal Ika, and NKRI (Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia) as well as other acts andlawsandregulationsAnd we must not try to beagainst Pancasila, the 1945 Consitution, Bhineka Tunggal Ika, and NKRI.” he said.
He continued that the struggle of the people of Papua nowadays is to fight for realizing prosperity in economy, education, and the health sector through the development plans programmed by both central government, provincial and city government.
“Every Papua citizens has to participate in the development efforts by preparing themselves with education and skills so that the independence in realizing the prosperity of Papua citizens can be achieved. What is also important is the role of the three pillars namely government, traditional wisdom, and religion that when united, complementing each other, can establish a harmonious relationship and thus creating a situation conducive to the implementation of development programs” He emphasized.
He continued that thesecurity situation is also very important in giving a guarantee to the people to conduct their daily activities in their respective roles. Security is not only the responsibilities of TNI-Polri but it also needs the support and active participation from all layers of Papua society.
Therefore, in order to address the situation prior to July 1 2017, wedeclare to reject all form of activities from any group including the National Committee of West Papua/Komite Nasional Papua Barat (KNPB) that will conduct activities to commemorate the anniversary of TPN-OPM on July 1, 2017.
“We demand that the law enforcement officers to take a firm stand towards any group that intends to commemorate the anniversary of TPN-OPM because it is against the constitution and creates unrest for the Papua citizens” He said. Ramese also appealed to the people of Papua to not get provoked and participate in any activities to commemorate the anniversary of TPN-OPM on July 1 2017.
Appealing to all layers of Papua to create a conducive security situation especially as we arecurrently still in the moment of Eid al-Fitr celebrations so it is expected that we prioritize silaturahmi to strengthen the brotherhood between the people Papua in realizing Peaceful Papua.
Invitingto all components of Papua society to close ranks and unite in realizing Papua’s development to be more advanced, safe, peaceful, and prosperous within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia.
