Papua’s Local Leaders and community stand ready to support the 20th National Sports Games or PON, which will be held in Papua Province Indonesia, in 2020 as stated by Marten Ohee, Representative of Papuan community Leaders in Jayapura on Tuesday (4/10) during the PON XX flag raising ceremony.
“We Papuan Local Leaders and community stand ready to make the forthcoming National Sport Games – PON a success in Papua”, said Marten Ohee.
Governor Lukas Enembe together with Papua’s PON athletes staged a flag raising ceremony for 2020 National Games at Kampung Harapan, Sentani Eastern District of Jayapura. In his remarks, the Papua Governor requested that the Papua community support and make PON in Papua a success.
“It’s an honour bestowed upon us and let’s start to prepare and make the forthcoming national game a success here “, said Lukas Enembe.
The PON Flag raising ceremony was also attended by Jayapura Regents, Community and Religous Leaders, Tribal Chiefs, Local communities Representatives, Youth and Students. The ceremony started when the PON flag was raised by the Paskibraka (Indonesian flag-raising team) and continued with a student marching Band and dance performances.
“Various sports venues will be established for the PON sport competitions in Mimika, Jayapura, Merauke, Jayawijaya and Keerom”, said Lukas Enembe. The Governor also noted the success of West Java Province as host of the recent PON which was held in Bandung.
“West Java Province has just hosted PON 2016 with best achievement. We are very sure Papua also be able to achieve the same thing”, Lukas Enembe expressed his optimism.
