The Tourism Potential of Waremdi on Numfor Island, Papua

The research conducted by Nella Kapisa, Jonni Marwa, and Domingas M.H. Renwarin from the Forestry Department, Faculty of Forestry, University of Papua reveals the potential of Waremdi River as a promising tourist attraction. This research was published in the Papuasia Forestry Journal with the aim of exploring the perceptions of the surrounding community and delving into the feasibility of Waremdi River as a tourist destination. The research employed a descriptive method, including field observations and interviews with the community.

The Waremdi River is famous for its clear water and is surrounded by the beauty of flora and fauna. The analysis results show that this river is worthy of being developed as a tourist attraction, with a score of 3.100, placing it in the moderate category. In terms of beauty, Waremdi offers pristine natural views and cool air, making it an ideal place for visitors to enjoy nature.

Waremdi River also has a wealth of biodiversity, including various endemic plant and animal species, making it a unique place with high ecological value. The community hopes that with good management, the river can not only boost the tourism sector but also promote local welfare.
