
The duty of TNI soldiers in Papua is not only to maintain the security of their citizens from disturbances caused by separatist groups. The soldiers are also accustomed to helping the difficulties of the Papuan people.
In the Kepi District, Mappi Regency, for example. On February 1, 2025, the Tactical Command Post of the Indonesia-PNG Border Security Task Force, 141/AYJP Infantry Battalion, built a house for an underprivileged resident named Konrat in Emete Lama Village, Papua. This activity was directly led by the Commander of the Post, Second Lieutenant of Infantry Deby Ariyansah, along with all members of the Post.
Humanitarian Mission
The construction of the house is a form of concern from the Border Security Task Force of the 141/AYJP Infantry Battalion towards the condition of the needy community. At the same time, it is a tangible manifestation of the TNI’s dedication to helping residents in border areas.
Konrat, who is a resident with limited means, was very grateful for the assistance, which is expected to provide comfort and a more decent life for his family. Inf. Second Lieutenant Deby Ariyansah stated that this activity is part of the Border Security Task Force’s duties in providing humanitarian assistance, in addition to maintaining security and stability in the border area.
The community feels supported.
“We want to lighten the burden of underprivileged residents and hope that the construction of this house can provide long-term benefits,” said Second Lieutenant Deby Ariyansah.
This activity has also been praised by the local community. They feel helped by the attention given by the TNI.
With this assistance, it is hoped that it can strengthen the relationship between the TNI and the community, as well as enhance the spirit of mutual cooperation in the Emete Lama village environment.
TNI soldiers also want to maintain security as well as comfort during their presence in Papua.
Free Health Checkup
The Indonesia-PNG Border Security Task Force, 131/BRS Infantry Battalion, also provided free healthcare services (Yankes) in the form of health check-ups and treatment in Pund Village, Waris District, on Saturday, February 1, 2024.
“This activity is a manifestation of the concern and health services provided by the Task Force of the 131/BRS Infantry Battalion Kalipay Post for the people of Pund village,” said the Commander of the C Task Force of the 131/BRS Infantry Battalion, 1st Lt. Inf David I Ginting.
This free health check activity is conducted for the border communities as a form care for the by the TNI.
No Need to Go Far to the Community Health Centre
The TNI wants to improve the level of health and facilitate and bring closer access to healthcare for communities in border areas.
Meanwhile, Martius (38), one of the community members, expressed gratitude for the free healthcare services provided by the Indonesia-PNG Border Security Task Force, Infantry Battalion 131/BRS.
“We (the community) are very helped by the healthcare services from the TNI officers,” said Martinus.
With the TNI’s proactive approach, the community no longer needs to visit health centres to check their health.
“We no longer have to go far to the community health centre to check our health,” he added.
