Marine Task Force Carries Out Smart Papua Program, Educate Children of Muara Village

Soldiers of the 6th Marine Infantry Battalion Task Force currently performing duties as RI-PNG Mobile Border Security Task Force under the Habema Operations Command has intensified the Papua Pintar (Smart Papua) programme involving children in Muara Village in the RI-PNG border area.

The activities held on Friday, 11 October 2024 at Logpon Post under the leadership of Marine Lieutenant Nico were greeted enthusiastically by children and the community in Muara Village, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains.

Commander of the Task Force, Lt. Col. Rismanto Manurung said, this territorial activity entitled ‘Papua Pintar’ was realised in the form of delivering additional subjects for elementary school-age children who live near the Logpon Mobile RI-PNG Pamtas Task Force Post.

The commander added, education is a basic need of the community which is of particular concern to the soldiers currently on duty around Logpon Post. “The education factor for elementary school children is an important basic need of the Muara Village community. One of the factors underlying this is the location of Muara which is relatively remote and has limited educational facilities,” said the Lieutenant Colonel in his official statement received by VIVA Military, Saturday, 12 October 2024.

That is why that Friday morning, Lt. Nico invited elementary school children around Logpon Post to take part in additional learning activities delivered directly by the Soldiers. Before the lesson process began, Lt. Nico as the Logpon Post Commander expressed his gratitude to the community around Kampung Muara, especially to the children who enthusiastically flocked to Logpon Post to attend the additional lesson.

On that occasion, he sought to motivate the children so that they could continue to be enthusiastic in studying.  The additional learning activity was well-received by the children of Muara Village. One of the children, Leo Murib, admitted that he was very happy to be able to participate in the Papua Pintar programme at Logpon Post with the Marine soldiers.

“Thank you, Marine Commander. We are happy to study at the Marine Post. God bless,” said Leo Murib in front of the soldiers of the Task Force.

Separately, the activity involving the children of the village also received appreciation from the Habema Operations Commander Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, who stated that teaching and learning activities carried out by TNI soldiers in the border region can support the development acceleration programme in the Papua region.

“The initiative of the Task Force to conduct the activity at Logpon Post is an effort of the TNI to provide basic services, especially education for school-age children, to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region,” said the Brigadier General.
