Indonesia is known for its incredible wealth of tourist destinations, offering a variety of options for travellers looking for both natural beauty and unique experiences. As reported by TIMENEWS.co.id from the iTrip ID Youtube channel on Thursday, 5 September 2024. One of the places worth visiting is Telaga Biru Samares in Biak Numfor, Papua.
The Samares Blue Lake (Telaga Biru Samares), also known as Wopersnondi, is located in the middle of the dense forest of Samares Village, East Biak District. This destination presents enchanting natural beauty, with very clear lake water and stunning views of the surroundings. The lake has very clear water, so visitors can clearly see the trees and branches at the bottom of the lake. The water in Telaga Biru is slightly salty and very cool, giving a refreshing sensation to anyone who visits. The depth of the lake is about 14 metres, and the brackish water makes it unique among other lakes.
The name Wopersnondi itself comes from the Biak language, which is a combination of the words ‘woper’ (jump) and ‘snon’ (man), meaning ‘one who jumps.’ The name is said to have been given because many men from neighbouring villages often dive into the lake.
To reach Telaga Biru Samares, you’ll need to travel about 1 to 1.5 hours from Biak city centre. Upon arriving at the local village, you will find stairs built by the government to facilitate access to the lake. The road to the lake is dotted with tall trees and lounge chairs, allowing visitors to take a break while enjoying the fresh air. After about a 10-minute walk, you will be treated to a stunning view of the lake surrounded by lush trees. Many visitors jump right into the water to experience the freshness and clarity of the lake water.
In addition, you can enjoy other activities such as swimming and snorkelling to explore the underwater beauty of the lake. Around the lake there are also other interesting tourist destinations, such as Samares Beach, which is only about 5 minutes away from the lake.
To get to the lake, you can use a private vehicle or rent a car or motorbike, as there is no public transport available. Road access to the location is paved, although there are some climbs and descents that need attention. The entry fee is Rp20,000 for motorbikes and Rp30,000 for four-wheeled vehicles. The area is well-managed, so visitors can enjoy the beauty and comfort while visiting.
For the best experience, it is recommended to come in the morning so you can enjoy the natural atmosphere freely. The blue lake is one of the must-visit natural tourist destinations when in Biak Numfor. With the beauty of clear water and spectacular scenery, this lake offers an unforgettable experience.
