Undeterred by Conflict, Soldiers Conquer Jungle to Distribute Toys, Clothes to Papuan Children

Amidst the challenging task of safeguarding the border, TNI soldiers from the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad) Infantry Battalion’s Para Raider 432/Waspada Setia Jaya Task Force proved that they also have big hearts.

On Tuesday, 20 August 2024, these soldiers visited Grinbun Village, Dal District, Nduga Regency, Mountainous Papua Province, to share happiness with local children through Social Communication activities.

Quoting the statement in Media Habema, 21 August 2024, this activity is part of the RI-PNG Border Security Operation task carried out by Yonif 432 Kostrad.

In their patrols, the soldiers not only focus on the main task of maintaining security, but also take the time to interact with local residents.

They distributed free toys and clothes to children along the patrol route, which was immediately greeted with joy.

The Commander of the Task Force, Infantry Lieutenant Colonel Zulfikar Akbar Helmi, had previously emphasised the importance of utilising time on assignment for positive things.

This directive was responded to by the initiative of the soldiers who decided to provide more than just security, but also attention to the surrounding community.

The children in Grinbun Village could not contain their excitement when they received gifts from the soldiers.

Not only the children, Grinbun residents as a whole warmly welcomed the presence of TNI soldiers.

Mama Eli Murib, one of the local residents, expressed her gratitude enthusiastically.

‘Thank you for the free toys and clothes for our children. God bless,’ she said.

Support from Habema Commander

This endeavour received appreciation from the Commander of the Habema Operations Command, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto.

He considered that the steps taken by the Task Force were not just ordinary patrols, but also a form of inclusive Social Communication.

‘This is the TNI’s drive to carry out inclusive Social Communication with all parties in order to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region,’ said Brigadier General Lucky Avianto.

This statement shows that the TNI has a broader vision in carrying out its duties in Papua, which is not only maintaining security, but also contributing to social development and community welfare.

Inspiring Humanity in the Midst of Duty

The activities carried out by TNI soldiers in Grinbun Village provide a clear example of how military duties can go hand in hand with humanitarian missions.

With simple steps, such as distributing free toys and clothes, they were able to touch the hearts of the community and bring happiness in the midst of a challenging situation.

This type of endeavour is expected to continue and become an inspiration for other soldiers serving in various parts of Indonesia, especially in areas that still need more attention.
