
The colossal dance of 2,600 students from Papua has officially broken the MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) record at the culmination of the 2024 National Children’s Day (Hari Anak Nasional/HAN), at Istora Papua Bangkit, Kampung Harapan, Jayapura Regency, Tuesday (23/7/2024).
The award was presented by MURI Director of Operations Jusuf Ngadri to the Chairperson of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet Era Organisation for Solidarity Action (OASE KIM), Tri Tito Karnavian, who then passed it on to First Lady Iriana Jokowi, as an offering on National Children’s Day.
The presentation of the MURI record was also witnessed by President Jokowi along with Ministers, governors throughout Indonesia and related officials.
Chairperson of OASE KIM, Tri Tito Karnavian, stated that the organisation of the culmination of the 2024 National Children’s Day event in Papua was based on the President’s decision to realise a golden Indonesia in 2045. Furthermore, children are valuable assets for the country and they will be the successors of the nation in the future.
‘For that reason, we OASE KIM under the guidance of the first lady fully support the 40th HAN 2024 activities held in Papua,’ he said.
Meanwhile, the peak of the 2024 HAN celebration in Papua was attended by around 6,000 children ranging from early childhood education, primary school, Junior high school to senior high school from all provinces in Papua. Also present were representatives of children from all provinces accompanied by the wives of governors throughout Indonesia.
Acting Governor of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun said that the commemoration of National Children’s Day this time is a reminder for us, how important it is to pay serious attention to the nation’s next generation. With the aim of increasing public awareness of the rights and welfare of children.
‘We are invited to jointly create an environment that supports children’s development in terms of education, health and welfare protection.’
‘We must also pay special attention to issues facing children such as violence, exploitation and discrimination. Because every child is a star that carries pure light for us to help them become as bright as possible,’ he said.
The peak of the event was also filled with the aspirations of Indonesian children delivered by 38 child representatives from Forum Indonesia. The event was also filled with performances by indigenous Papuan children talented in maths, marching, singing and creative costume design.
The event also continued with the awarding of scholarships for the Smart Indonesia (Indonesia Pintar) programme and awards to outstanding children.
