
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the 2023 Sail Teluk Cenderawasih (Sail Cendrawasih Bay/STC) event in Biak, Papua. Jokowi hopes the event will increase Papua’s marine, maritime and cultural potential, as well as boost investor interest to help develop Papua.
“We must be aware that two-thirds of Indonesia is made up of water, two-thirds of Indonesia is sea whose contents are water. Therefore, at the peak of the 2023 Sail Teluk Cenderawasih event, it will introduce marine potential, maritime potential, we have tourism potential, we have our socio-cultural potential,” Jokowi said, through the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Thursday (11/23/2023).
Jokowi said Papua has the richest natural wealth and marine ecosystems in Indonesia. He hopes that Papuan products can be introduced at the national level to the world level.
“We hope that with the Sail Teluk Cendrawasih Papuan culture, dance, music, and local products can be introduced to the national level and even to the international level, to the global level,” he said.
“Papua has abundant natural wealth and Cendrawasih Bay is an area with the richest marine ecosystem in Indonesia. Paradise of coral reefs, paradise of marine life and we hope that with the Sail Teluk Cendrawasih culture, dance, music, and local products of Papua can be introduced to the national level and even to the international level, to the global level, “said Jokowi.
In addition, Jokowi hopes that the Sail Teluk Cendrawasih event can also increase the number of tourists and increase the number of investors to help develop Papua.
“This will encourage the number of tourists, will encourage creator events, will encourage investor interest to come and develop Papua,” Jokowi said.
