Sharing the Love on Sunday: TNI Distributes Basic Necessities to Papuan Community

Timika, PenKoopsHabema – The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Operations Command (KOOPS TNI) HABEMA has distributed basic necessities to the Papuan community attending the “Minggu Kasih/Sharing the Love on Sunday” event held during Sunday Service at the GKII Laodekia Church, Kuala Kencana District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province on Sunday, 9 June 2024.  The event was  organised by the Territorial Task Force, led by Army Colonel Stefie Jantje Nuhujanan. 

The congregation of the GKII Laodekia Church, numbering 100, the majority of whom are Indigenous Papuans, were very enthusiastic in welcoming the presence and event held by the KOOPS HABEMA. Pastor Demius, as the leader of the GKII Laodekia Church, expressed his appreciation for the attention and support of the KOOPS HABEMA in their care and close attention which touches the basic needs of the Papuans in the Mimika Regency area.

This form of territorial activity organised by KOOPS HABEMA is a realization of the TNI’s support in providing basic services to the Papuan people and is in line with the Presidential Instruction to the TNI Commander as stated in Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua. This territorial activity is also an implementation of Soft Power which is part of the strategy for resolving the Papua problem by the TNI Commander, General Agus Subiyanto, entitled “Smart Power”.

“Territorial activity at the GKII Laodekia Mimika Church is a form of TNI’s concern for the local community, especially support for the provision of basic services, as an effort to accelerate the development of Papua,” said the Commander of KOOPS HABEMA, Brigadier General TNI Lucky Avianto, after the “MINGGU KASIH”.
